Overview

This course is offered through PSAI. This course will have you perform underwater skills that relate to the real world of diving: Keeping up with Depth, Air, Time, and Awareness (DATA).

Prerequisites

Prerequisite certification is Advanced Open Water. Participants are required to have DAN Master Insurance or higher.

Miniumum Age

Minimum age for enrollment is 15 for Level 1 and 2.
Minimum age for enrollment is 18 for Level 3.

Class Description

Training consists of classroom sessions, a pool session, and four open water dives.

You must become comfortable and competent with the mental and motor skills at each training depth before training down to the next level.

The training in this course covers:

  • Equipment Selection and Configuration
  • Dive Planning and Gas Management
  • Buddy Awareness
  • Dive Execution
  • Preparing for and responding to foreseeable technical diving emergencies

This course is taught on air.

The levels that are taught are:
Level 1 (100 Feet)
Level 2 (130 Feet)
Level 3 (150 Feet).

$400.00 includes one regular day and one special day of boat dives.

  • The PADI Open Water course is designed to provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills to safely gain limited experience in the diving environment under favorable conditions. We recommend that the newly qualified SCUBA diver limit diving to calm, shallow waters with an experienced buddy and engage in special diving activities only after qualifying through training for the particular activity.

  • This course is designed to give the necessary skills and knowledge for diving with Enriched Air Nitrox. The course consists of a minimum of four hours of lectures and classroom exercises. The student will develop a working knowledge of Enriched Air Nitrox, physiological aspects of breathing oxygen at elevated partical pressures, computation of equivalent air depths, use of dive tables, oxygen analysis, dive planning, and special equipment requirements.

  • This course provides the diver with the necessary skills and knowledge for deeper diving. The dives will be nondecompression dives and none will be conducted over 130 feet.

  • The PADI Underwater Hunter course is centered on hunting gamefish with spear guns and pole spears and the catching of lobsters by hand (when available). The course will also be used to develop the required knowledge and skills for underwater collecting of items such as shells, artifacts, or tropical fish.

  • The PADI Full Face course is designed to educate divers about the use of Full Face Masks, with emphasis on the AGA Mask and the Ocean Reef Masks. This program will introduce the participants to Full Face Masks and the use of underwater communication equipment.

  • The PADI Shark Awareness course is designed to educate the diver about sharks, with emphasis on the Atlantic Sand Tiger. This course will also give an understanding into the true nature of sharks and dispel any preconceived notion about sharks.

  •  

    The Lionfish Population Control course is a PADI Distinctive Specialty that was created to give the necessary skills and knowledge to capture lionfish. The course consists of lectures and collecting dives. The student will develop an understanding of the lionfish, how to live collect and transport back to shore, how to spear lionfish, dive planning, and special equipment requirements.

    The PADI EFR course focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Course participants learn simple to follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a non-stressful learning environment.

  • The PADI Equipment Specialist course is designed to be an introduction to new types of equipment and to familiarize divers with routine care and maintenance procedures as well as scuba equipment storage recommendations.  You will be shown how to overcome some common equipment problems and will be offered equipment configuration suggestions.  This is not a repair course.

  • The Dive Master course is conducted on an individual basis and denotes an individual who has a high level of personal diving skill, has instructor-level knowledge of diving theory, has had significant training in assisting instructors during training activities and is able to assume a role of responsibility for the welfare of other divers in his/her charge.

  • The DAN DEMP Instructor course qualifies you to teach the DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Injuries, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HML), and the Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba Diving Injuries courses. During the course, you will learn the proper teaching techniques to train individuals how to administer emergency medical oxygen, recognize and treat hazardous marine life injuries, and use and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba related injuries.

  • As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you can teach CPR and first aid to others so they can be prepared for an emergency. Gain experience in how to structure learning, the requirements of performance based training and your role as the instructor in the learning environment for teaching CPR and first aid. You also learn how to motivate students, evaluate student knowledge, present course content effectively, become proficient in developing students' hands-on skills practice sessions, and are taught how to present an effective scenario-based learning experience.Once again this program is now covered by Tuition Assistance.

  • The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC)—the core of PADI Instructor training. The first portion is the Assistant Instructor course followed by the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. The OWSI program is a minimum of four days. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.
